WAYNE, Pa. - March 20, 2008 - DMW Worldwide LLC announced that Warren Hunter has been named "Direct Marketer of the Year" for 2008 by the Direct Marketing Association's (DMA) Financial Services Council. The award was presented at the 32nd Annual Financial Services Conference held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in mid-March.
The DMA Financial Services Council "Direct Marketer of the Year" Award is designed to recognize individual achievement by a practitioner who has made outstanding contributions to the insurance or financial services industry through the use of the direct marketing concept. To be considered for the award, a nominee must display a pattern of consistent contribution that achieves a high level of competence - if not expertise - in one or more disciplines such as product development, research, marketing, management, education, sales, administration, and technical innovation.
The 2008 honoree, Hunter is DMW's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He earned a B.S. in advertising from the Penn State University School of Journalism, and his first job in marketing landed him at Scriptomatic in Philadelphia in the Advertising Department. After that Hunter was an Account Supervisor for Selas Corporation in Dresher, Pa. During his 30-year career Hunter has held senior-level marketing and management positions for National Liberty Corporation, World Book Encyclopedia, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida.
In 1988, Hunter purchased equity interest in direct response advertising agency The McClure Group, and led seven years of double-digit growth. When the agency was sold in 1995, he remained on board as Chief Marketing Officer of a merger of three agencies that became DMW Worldwide. In 2002, Hunter led a group of managers in the purchase of the agency and it became DMW Worldwide LLC. Today the agency employs 83 people with offices in Wayne, Pa.; Norristown, Pa.; Plymouth, Mass.; and St. Louis, Mo. DMW specializes in insurance, financial services, and fundraising marketing.
Hunter has proven instrumental in the launch of the direct marketing efforts for a cross-section of companies using multimedia advertising, database marketing methods, and multichannel distribution. Under his leadership, DMW staff have become nationally known as experts in all facets of direct marketing in a variety of industries, most notably insurance and financial services.
